Panini held the exclusive NFL license in 2020, so every genuine Burrow rookie is a Panini card. That one fact settles most of the confusion in listings: there is no 2020 Topps Burrow rookie, and anything dated 2021 or later is a veteran card, however it’s advertised.

The paper floor — Score and Donruss

• 2020 Score — the entry-level paper base rookie and the cheapest genuine rookie-year Burrow. This is the classic “first rookie card” for a new collector.

Base, parallel, insert — know which one you’re buying

Three words that listings routinely blur, and the difference decides what you’re paying for:

• A base card is the standard card in a product’s main checklist (Prizm #307, for instance).
• A parallel is that same card reprinted in a different finish or color — same card number, same photo, scarcer stock. That’s the Silver/color/Gold ladder.
• An insert is a separate mini-set with its own name, design, and numbering. Burrow’s inserts and chase cards — Prestige Heroes, Downtown!, Color Blast and the rest — mostly come from later years, which means they are not rookie cards at all.

If you want one iconic rookie, most collectors gravitate toward a Silver Prizm or a color parallel in a high grade. If you’re chasing the ceiling, the Contenders Rookie Ticket auto and National Treasures RPA are the crown jewels. Either way:

1. Decide your budget tier first — raw commons, mid-grade slabs, or high-grade autos. The ladder above is ordered to make that easy.
