What Is a Joe Burrow Card Worth? The Five Things That Set the Price
Burrow card values are set by five things: which 2020 Panini product it came from, where it sits on that product's parallel ladder, whether it's signed, whether it carries a patch, and its grade. Here's how to read your exact card — plus live eBay listings and sold comps.
Find these cards on eBay
The cards on this list trade on eBay, not Amazon — these open live listings for each one. Buy graded (PSA or SGC) for anything above four figures.
There’s no single answer to “what’s a Burrow worth,” because Joe Burrow has thousands of distinct cards and the same design can be a dollar-box common or a headline-grade slab. But the price isn’t random. A Burrow card’s value is set by five specific things, and once you can read all five off your card, you know exactly which market you’re pricing in.
Rather than publish fixed numbers that go stale, this page teaches you to identify your card, then sends you to live eBay listings and sold comps for that exact rung of the ladder.
The prices you see via the buttons below are live eBay listings — not values we set. That’s the honest way to price a moving market.
Lever 1 — Which 2020 Panini product it came from
Panini held the exclusive NFL licence in Burrow’s rookie year, so every true NFL Burrow rookie is a 2020 Panini card — and which Panini product it came from is the biggest single determinant of the market it trades in. These are the tiers, cheapest first, each with our full breakdown of its structure:
| Tier | Products | What it means for price |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | Score, Donruss Rated Rookie, Prestige, Legacy | High print, wide supply — the accessible end of the market |
| Chrome flagship | Prizm, Donruss Optic, Select, Mosaic | The most-traded Burrow rookies; deepest comp data of any tier |
| Premium auto | Contenders, Spectra, Obsidian, Immaculate | On-card rookie signatures — a step change in price over unsigned |
| Ultra-premium | National Treasures, Flawless, One, Encased | Rookie patch autos numbered down to one-of-ones; the ceiling |
Two cards from the same tier are broadly comparable. Two cards from different tiers usually aren’t, no matter that both say “Joe Burrow rookie” in the listing title. The full brand-by-brand checklist maps every 2020 product that carries a Burrow rookie; the rookie-cards chase guide covers which one to buy first.
Lever 2 — Where it sits on that product’s parallel ladder
Inside each product, the same design is reprinted in different finishes. Same photo, same card number, different scarcity — and that ladder is where most of the price spread lives.
- Prizm — the base rookie is #307; above it sit the unnumbered Silver, the colour rainbow, the numbered colours, the Gold /10, and the Black Finite one-of-one. Every one of those is #307. The Prizm parallels ladder walks the rainbow tier by tier.
- Donruss Optic — base Rated Rookie → unnumbered Holo → colour and Velocity/Shock parallels → Gold → Black one-of-one.
- Mosaic — base rookie → Silver Prizm → the colour and Reactive families → Gold → one-of-one.
- Select — three design tiers, Concourse → Premier → Field Level, before you even get to colours. Field Level is scarcer than Concourse of the same player, which is why two “2020 Select Burrow rookies” can be very different cards.
- Contenders — the ticket ladder: base Rookie Ticket auto → short-printed photo Variation → Cracked Ice → Playoff Ticket → the one-of-one Championship Ticket.
This is the most common pricing mistake. A seller’s “2020 Prizm Burrow rookie” comp might be an unnumbered Silver while yours is a numbered colour, or the reverse. Read the finish and the serial number off the card before you trust any comparison.
Lever 3 — Autograph: on-card or sticker, or none at all
A signature is a step change, not a percentage. But not all Burrow autos are equal:
- On-card signatures — signed directly onto the card stock, as with the Contenders Rookie Ticket — carry a clear premium with collectors over sticker autos, which are signed on a clear label applied to the card.
- Rookie-year autos outrank later-year autos of the same product.
- Authentication matters more here than anywhere else. Burrow is among the most-faked active players in the hobby; our guide to spotting fake Joe Burrow autographs covers what to check, and the autographs & top cards page collects the marquee signed cards.
Lever 4 — Patch, and how low the serial number goes
At the top of the market the two stack: an autograph and a game-used-style jersey patch on the same card, hand-numbered to a small run. That’s the RPA — rookie patch autograph — and the 2020 National Treasures RPA is the iconic Burrow example, with coloured parallels numbering down to one-of-ones. Within RPAs, the patch itself matters: multi-colour and logo patches command more than a single-colour swatch of the same card.
Lever 5 — Grade
Once the card is identified, grade is the biggest remaining multiplier, and it works differently at each end of the ladder:
- On high-print base and chrome rookies, the gap between a PSA 10 and a PSA 9 is the whole investment case — the card is common, the gem copy isn’t.
- On low-numbered autos and RPAs, scarcity already does most of the work, so the grade premium is proportionally smaller — but a slab still buys you authentication on exactly the cards most worth faking.
- Raw copies trade at a discount to both, because the buyer is absorbing the condition risk.
Our graded Burrow cards page covers how PSA, BGS and SGC slabs differ in buyer pool and liquidity, the grading guide covers which service to use, and the grading-ROI calculator and centering tool help you judge a card before you pay submission fees.
Beyond the rookies
Not every Burrow worth money is a 2020 rookie. His post-rookie years carry their own markets — Super Bowl LVI and the playoff runs in particular — and the chase inserts run across every year of his career:
- Burrow cards by year — how each season’s issues differ
- Super Bowl & playoff cards — the championship-run issues
- Burrow inserts — Downtown!, Color Blast, Kaboom! and the rest of the chase families
How to price your exact card, in four steps
- Read the five levers off the card — product, parallel/finish, autograph, patch, and grade (or raw).
- Match the card number. It won’t tell you the price, but it tells you you’re comparing the same design. Prizm base and every Prizm parallel share #307.
- Filter eBay to sold listings, not asking prices. Asking prices tell you what sellers hope for; sold comps tell you what buyers paid. Every button on this page opens live results you can filter to sold.
- Compare within the rung. A sold comp is only useful if it matches all five levers — same product, same parallel, same signature status, same patch status, same grade.
Sourcing note. The only card number asserted on this page — Prizm base #307 — was confirmed against multiple independent live eBay listings for the same card. We deliberately publish no print runs, population counts, or dollar figures we cannot source, and we never quote prices: the live listings do that job honestly.
